7 Ways to Battle Depression

ree

1) Speak to an Expert ~

This could be therapy, 988, someone you know and trust. Connect with somebody who can help you see the light.

2) Go Out into Nature ~

Take a hike, go for a walk, expose yourself to the great outdoors and take in the sights. Something about nature is refreshing.

3) Eat your Favorite Meal ~

Cook it yourself if possible. Or get dressed up and go out to eat somewhere special. Bonus points if someone else goes with you and foots the bill.

4) Play Uplifting Music ~

Open up YouTube or Spotify and search for an upbeat playlist. Play it, on repeat if you must, and open up your mind to a different mood.

5) Write it Out ~

Journaling and written expression are known for helping to improve mood. Get out a pen, a quill, or a computer and let it out on the page.

6) Get an ESA ~

An emotional support animal (ESA) is an excellent means of reducing stress if you can afford one. Plus, taking care of something outside of yourself feels meaningful.

7) Volunteer for a Worthwhile Cause ~

Go to a convalescent home and keep someone company, visit an animal shelter and walk a dog or two, do something for someone else that matters.

Depression is a battle not easily won, so don't sit back and do nothing about it. Whatever you choose to do, know that you are not alone in the battle.
